Multifunctional device for bicycles, and uses and elements associated with said device
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention belongs to the sector of the bicycles type vehicles, particularly to the field of bicycles. The object of the present invention is a multifunctional device suitable for use both as a load support and, thanks to the incorporation of a rotating mechanism, anti-theft system. The invention also relates to different uses of said device, as well as to elements associated therewith, particularly to elements directed to the transport of cargo or to provide stability to the transported load.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Cyclelogistics is a European project that covers 11 countries and helps reduce the energy used, as well as the emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere, in urban cargo transport. To do this, it promotes the use of bicycles adapted for the transport of cargo in front of motorized vehicles. From the analysis of information available as prior art, 85% of commercial trips are related to the purchase of daily consumption supplies (food, toiletries, cleaning, etc.), another 10% is related to the purchase less common goods (clothing, books, tools, etc.) and, finally, 5% of commercial displacements include goods that are only bought once or twice a year (furniture, etc.) and whose weight or size they involve the use of a car in a necessary way. According to these data, approximately 9 out of 10 commercial trips are potentially suitable for transport by bicycle.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Report uFood in Spain ~, Mobile year July 2008-June 2009), consumption per person over a year varies between 650 and 700 Kg of food products, in recent 5 years. This means that a Spaniard consumes an average of 1.85 kg of food per day. To obtain the total daily consumption goods consumed per day by a person, we must add to this quantity other products (cleaning, cleaning, pet care, various utensils, etc.) that are consumed in less quantity and less frequently. The amount that has been estimated is 250 g, 0.25 kg per person per day. In total, a consumption of 2.1 Kg per person per day is established as a base, to which 15% dedicated to the container is added, which results in 2.4 Kg. If this quantity is acquired weekly, 16 result, 8 Kg of products per person. These data reinforce the possibility, including the recommendation. of using a bicycle for the weekly acquisition of consumer goods.
Currently there are many products on the market related to the transport of cargo by bicycle. The most used are summarized below:
Cargo bicycles: These are bicycles specially designed for cargo transportation. Its structure is modified and includes a wide platform on which to place a box, or the box is directly integrated into it. This platform can be found in the front, in the rear or between the two wheels. The frame and transmission of these types of bicycles must withstand loads much higher than those of a normal bicycle. This implies in general a use of more resistant and heavy materials, to which added the weight of the load, attributes an important reduction in the speed and they require an important muscular effort. In addition, due to its shape, the room for maneuver while driving is also limited, although not in all cases. On the other hand, its load capacity is, along with the trailers, noticeably superior and does not require any special maintenance.
Bags and saddlebags: This would be the easiest way to equip a bicycle for cargo transport. There are currently a large number of types of bags, as well as ways to hook the bicycle. But the big difference lies in whether they require the incorporation of a bulk carrier. This means that its use is not as widespread as it should, since the fact of acquiring one product conditions having to own another. Like the rack. They are intended for the transport of a small number of articles, and of small size, which considerably limits their possibilities. On the contrary, its incorporation to the bicycle does not influence in any way its driving, besides occupying very little space.
Baskets: Like bags and saddlebags, their incorporation into the bicycle is relatively simple, although they may also require luggage carriers. The carrying capacity is also very limited, however, in general they are easier to load than saddlebags and more resistant. Its main drawbacks are that they take up too much space and provide little security to the cargo.
Trailers: They are a good alternative to incorporate a cargo transport accessory in the bicycle. They are located behind the bike and have one or two independent wheels. There are two systems for hitching the bicycle: the rear axle of the wheel or the seat post. Its carrying capacity is usually quite large. The hooks are usually simple, but this depends largely on the model and brand. The stability during driving is compromised and in this influences the way of hooking, the one of seatpost is usually less stable since its center of gravity is higher. It occupies a lot of space and its use becomes problematic when driving through tight spaces or busy lanes. Also when it comes to keeping it at home it is impractical.
ShoPDing trailers: Trailers are specialized in the transport of the purchase, which can also be used as a shopping cart, or shopping carts that can be attached to the bike as a trailer. Precisely its strong point is that versatility. The hitching methods are similar to those of normal trailers. The load capacity is large And it is also adapted for the transport of the purchase, being able to have a compartment with insulating walls for frozen products for example. The main drawback is its driving stability. It is much less stable than normal trailers, leaving cargo security very compromised.
However, the different solutions referred to above are not fully satisfactory. Knowing their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, a series of conclusions are obtained which are listed below:
It is desirable that the user does not have to acquire a specific bicycle for cargo transportation, being able to use a bicycle that he owns or acquire one that he can also use for other purposes. Therefore, the most appropriate design solution is a bicycle adaptable device. It is therefore recommended that the adaptability to all types of common bicycles be met as a condition, these being road, mountain, ride bicycles and their variants. It is also sought that the form of assembly and disassembly of the device be as simple as possible. Regarding the placement of the load, it must be comfortable for the user. Generally the user transports the cargo in bags, that is why the design of the device must be developed based on the placement of these, regardless of platform or container where to place the goods and thus avoiding the action of transferring them from the bag to the device. The mounted device must not compromise the usual way of riding the bicycle. In addition, when loaded it should be as stable as possible in normal driving. The use of space is another premise that has an impact on the final result. That is why the mounted device must take up little space or not occupy skillful space while driving. The fact of not taking up too much space outside the bicycle is also valued in order to easily store it.
On the other hand, and taking into account the multifunctionality of the device object of the present invention, particularly useful for cargo transportation but also as an anti-theft system, it is pertinent to comment on the options that with respect to the latter (systems
anti-theft) can be found in the state of the art.
Anti-theft devices: Mainly, there are four types of bicycle locks on the market that are strong enough to qualify as higher security. "
U locks: One of the most reliable options. It does not break with shears, you have to do it with a firing pin or a saw, so you have to go well equipped and it takes time. It allows to tie the bicycle to fixed elements and with the included supports it can be carried in the same frame. It is true that it adds a lot of weight to the bicycle and that its length is short. Articulated locks: Another very efficient option to secure the bicycle is to use an articulated rigid plate padlock. It has a very high safety level and high resistance to cutting, although its joints may be its weak point. Folding occupies very little and can be transported without problems in specific covers that are attached to the frame.
Chains: Your level of security will depend on its thickness. A sufficiently thick chain may be the most efficient safety device. But nevertheless,
Their weight is too high and they are too impractical to be transported. Articulated pythons: They are those that offer less security within those qualified as greater security. Composed of an inner steel cable covered with a rigid outer shell. Being articulated offers more comfort for use, but the structure is weakened where the kneecaps are located. This device is recommended only for short parking periods.
On the other hand, there are also other types of devices that are relatively less resistant and would compromise bicycle safety if they were used individually. Its function is to ensure certain parts or accessories of the bicycle, or complement the function that one of the first will perform. They qualify as "minor security."
After the comparative analysis of the existing products in the market, it is concluded that there is no commercialization device that meets the characteristics of bicycle cargo transport and anti-theft security simultaneously. The device object of the present invention fulfills this double function.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In the first place, it should be clarified that the main objective of the device object of the invention, as far as the transport of cargo is concerned, is the transport of goods for daily consumption, being secondary the transport of another type of merchandise or cargo. Thus, when the user deposits the bicycle in a public place to enter the store to make the purchase, it is secured by the same device. With this it is possible to dispense with an ordinary anti-theft device.
Knowing the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the products related to the transport of cargo by bicycle, a series of conclusions are obtained which are listed below and to which the present invention responds:
It is necessary that the user does not have to acquire a specific bicycle.
The assembly and disassembly of the device should be as simple as possible.
Load placement must be comfortable for the user.
The mounted device must not compromise the usual driving mode of the
bicycle.
The mounted device must take up little space or not occupy skilful space in
driving.
The present invention relates to a multifunctional device suitable for use both as a load support and, thanks to the incorporation of a rotating mechanism, anti-theft system. Said device is compatible and adaptable to most types of bicycles, and its assembly or integration in it is not complex. Likewise, the present invention relates to different uses of said device, as well as to elements associated therewith, particularly to elements directed to the transport of cargo or to provide stability to the transported load.
In accordance with the above, and using the reference signs corresponding to the elements represented in Figure 5, a multifunctional device comprising a first object of the invention comprises:
two lateral bars (1) (parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bicycle) fixed bias or attachable
both to a transverse bar (2) (perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bicycle) with
possibility of turning around its own longitudinal axis, like a bar (3)
transverse (perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bicycle) removable.
a transverse bar (2) (perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bicycle) with the possibility of turning around its own longitudinal axis, said transverse bar (2) with possibility
of intraducible rotation inside an equally transverse hollow tubular shaft and
integrated in a clamp (4) that can be fixed or integrated with the seat post, including the
multifunctional means means that allow to release and block said crossbar
with respect to said hollow tubular transverse axis.
a removable cross bar (3) (perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bicycle) and
attachable to both side bars (1) of the device by means of fixing or
coupling
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, two side bars (1) are not straight, either presenting couplings that allow two or more straight linear sections to be distinguished, either presenting an angle of curvature in its entirety or only in part thereof.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the clamp (4) comprising the hollow tubular transverse axis (perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bicycle) does not form an integrated part of the bicycle seat but is attachable or attachable to said seat post. In an even more preferred embodiment, said clamp (4) has a diameter greater than said seat post and is adjusted to the latter by suitable fixing means, such as screws (5) screwed with
nuts (6) or pigeons, or quick closing mechanisms such as those that incorporate a handle to exert the closing pressure. In a variant of said embodiment of the invention, the multifunctional device comprises among its elements an adapter (7) that allows the correct fastening of the clamp to the bicycle seat in case the difference between the diameters of both elements (clamp) (4) and seat post) is superior to the one suitable for the adjustment or direct fixation between them.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the clamp (4) comprising the hollow tubular transverse axis (perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bicycle) is integrated and forms part of the seat post of the bicycle.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the means for releasing and blocking the crossbar (2) with the possibility of rotation with respect to the hollow tubular transverse axis are tongue and groove type. In said preferred embodiment, the transverse bar (2) has at least one retractable stop under the spring (such as that used, for example, on crutches to adjust the height thereof), the transverse bar assembly (2) being reversibly blocked with the possibility of rotation - hollow tubular transverse axis when, by turning said transverse bar (2) with the possibility of turning on its own longitudinal axis, the at least one retractable stop coinciding with at least one hole in the hollow tubular transverse axis, position in which the stop of the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation protrudes through the hole of the hollow tubular transverse axis, so that to proceed to the unlocking or release it is only necessary to press the at least one stop until it allows the movement again turn of
the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation and is located below the at least one hole of the hollow tubular transverse axis.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the means for releasing and blocking the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation with respect to the hollow tubular transverse axis are a rod-type locking rod. In said preferred embodiment, both the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation and the hollow tubular transverse axis have at least two holes through which it is possible to draw an imaginary rectilinear axis, so that to block the assembly they are made to coincide said at least four holes and, in said position, a rod of smaller diameter than said holes and of a length greater than the outside diameter of the hollow tubular transverse axis is passed through, and once inserted it is locked in said position well by means of a locking pin, to be inserted transversely into at least one of the ends of the rod, at least one of its ends; either by screwing the rod of a suitable element, such as a nut or a dove, the rod being provided with a thread. In an even more preferred embodiment, the rod has one of its thickened ends, either constitutively or by means of an element that is fixed or coupled at said end, the diameter of said
end greater than the diameter of the at least one proximal hole present in the hollow tubular transverse axis. In an even more preferred embodiment, both the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation and the hollow tubular transverse axis have at least four holes through which it is possible to draw individual rectilinear imaginary axes, so that for blocking the assembly two stems are used.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the means for releasing and blocking the crossbar (2) with the possibility of rotation with respect to the hollow tubular transverse axis comprise a U-shaped element (8), said element not necessarily curved. In said preferred embodiment, both the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation and the hollow tubular transverse axis have at least four holes through which it is possible to draw individual rectilinear imaginary axes, so that to block the assembly they are made to coincide said at least eight holes and, in said position, the parallel segments that are part of the U-shaped element (8), said segments of diameter smaller than said holes and of a length are passed through them greater than the outer diameter of the hollow tubular transverse axis, and once inserted they are fixed well directly to each other (the parallel segments that are part of the U-shaped element (8) prevent the misalignment of the holes in the bar (2) transverse with the possibility of turning with respect to the holes of the hollow tubular transverse axis; at the same time as said aligned but independent holes impede, by friction with the parallel segments that are part of each other
of the U-shaped element (8), the extraction of said U-shaped element (8); either by means of a locking pin, transverse to the parallel segments, in at least one of the free ends of said parallel segments that form part of the U-shaped element (8), for which at least one of said parallel segments is perforated in its free end; either by screwing, in at least one of the free ends of said parallel segments that form part of the U-shaped element (8), of a suitable element such as a nut or a pin, for which at least one of the free ends of said parallel segments that are part of the U-shaped element (8) provided with a thread. In an even more preferred embodiment, said U-shaped element (8) comprises an element that facilitates the user the operation of coupling and releasing said U-shaped element, said element for example toroidal or T-shaped.
In a preferred embodiment, the lateral bars (1) to be integrated with the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation are removable (that is, they do not constitute, once integrated with the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation, a set fixed irreversibly). In an even more preferred embodiment, the side bars (1) are screwed (9) into the crossbar (2) with the possibility of rotation, said screwing (9) controlled by the start and the thread pitch, of
so that, once both side bars (1) are screwed, they are arranged perfectly parallel to each other.
In another preferred embodiment, the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation and at least one of the lateral bars (1) are integrated and form a fixed assembly. In an even more preferred embodiment, the remaining side bar (1), not integrated in the fixed assembly pre-constituted by the transverse bar (2) with possibility of rotation and the other side bar (1), is screwed (9) at the end free of the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation, said screwing (9) controlled by the start and the thread passage, so that, once the side bar (1) not integrated into the pre-constituted fixed assembly referred to above , said bar (1) is arranged perfectly parallel to the other side bar (1), integrated in the pre-constituted fixed assembly referred to above.
In a preferred embodiment, the crossbar (2) with the possibility of rotation and both bars
(1) laterals are integrated and form a fixed set, for which, ideally, once the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation and one of the lateral bars (1) but not the two lateral bars (1) are integrated, introduces the assembly, in particular by the transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation, by the hollow tubular transverse axis and, once introduced, the remaining lateral bar (1) is integrated.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the means for releasing and locking the removable transverse bar (3) with respect to the side bars (1) comprise an anchoring system and a safety locking system. In an even more preferred embodiment, one of the bars
(one) lateral, the one to which the removable transverse bar (3) is to be coupled by means of an anchoring system, has at its free end (10) a distal segment of diameter smaller than the rest of said lateral bar (1), of diameter also smaller than that of the removable transverse bar (3), in particular of a diameter compatible with the cavity (11) made inside said removable transverse bar (3) as part of the removable crossbar-bar (3) anchoring system bar (1) lateral, as well as a length equally compatible with said cavity
(eleven) of said anchoring system and, in any case, less than the diameter of the removable crossbar (3). In said even more preferred embodiment, the distal segment (10) referred to above and compatible with the cavity (11) made inside the removable transverse bar (3) as part of the removable crossbar-bar (3) anchor system
(one) lateral, it has at its end a non-circular terminal that corresponds to the shape of the hole made in the removable crossbar (3) and that gives access to the cavity
(eleven) practiced therein as part of the anchoring system removable cross bar (3) - side bar (1), said hole and said cavity (11) with the particularity that, so that the terminal of the side bar (1) allows a perfect anchoring of said lateral bar (1) with the bar
(3) transverse removable, said terminal is initially introduced in a certain position for later, if it is desired to complete the anchor, be turned by the user an angle close to or identical to 900. In said even more preferred embodiment, once the bar (3)
Removable transverse has been coupled at one end to one, first, side bar (1) by the anchoring system referred to above, is coupled at the other end to the free end of the other, second, side bar (1) by a system of safety closure in accordance with any of the options that constitute a state of the art for this purpose and which determines that the release or decoupling of the removable crossbar (3) from the second lateral bar (1) can only be carried out by a user in possession of the corresponding, specific, opening element, for example a security key compatible with a corresponding security lock.
In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the means for releasing and blocking the bar
(3) Removable transverse with respect to the lateral bars (1) comprise two safety closing systems, one for each coupling and locking point between the removable transverse bar (3) and the corresponding lateral bar (1).
In a preferred embodiment of the invention the components of the release and locking means of the removable transverse bar (3) present in the side bars (1) are located, symmetrically with each other, either at the ends (10, 12) of said lateral bars (1) opposite to the ends thereof (1) that allow fixing to the crossbar (3), either in the intermediate zone (10 ', 12') of said lateral bars (1), or both (10,10,12, 12 ') regions (opposite ends to the ends thereof (1) that allow the fixation to the crossbar (2), intermediate zones).
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the surface of the removable transverse bar (3) has grooves or notches or guides, or has been subject to knurling or drawing, to be suitable for carrying bags or the like preventing or hindering the movement or slipping to along the removable cross bar (3) of the handles of said bags or the like.
In another preferred embodiment, an element (14) external to the surface of the bar is incorporated
(3) removable transverse, said external element (14) made of a suitable material to prevent or hinder the movement along the removable transverse bar (3) of bag handles or similar to carrying, said handles placed by the user on the surface of said external element (14). In an even more preferred embodiment, the surface of said external element has grooves or notches or guides (15), or has been subject to knurling or drawing, to improve its inherent capacity (depending on the material in which the element is manufactured) to carrying bags or the like preventing or hindering the movement or slipping along the surface of said external element of the handles of said bags or the like. In any of the aforementioned cases, the incorporation of the external element (14) can be carried out according to any of the alternatives contemplated for use in the state of the art, such as its mechanical coupling (said external element (14) presented a full longitudinal opening for this purpose), its fixation by means of adhesive (as in the previous case, said external element (14) presented a complete longitudinal opening for this purpose), or, in the absence of a complete longitudinal opening in the external element (14), by introducing the removable transverse bar (3) (for which it must, said bar (3), have at least one free end, not coupled to a corresponding, lateral bar (1)) through said external element (14), provided of two holes at its ends and presenting an internal diameter greater than the external diameter of the removable cross bar (3).
The present invention is also directed to uses of the multifunctional device that constitutes the first object of the invention.
In a preferred embodiment, said multifunctional device is used for transporting loads by means of bags or the like of usual use not specifically manufactured for direct installation on the device once all its different essential elements are coupled. In said preferred embodiment, once the side bars are coupled to the crossbar with the possibility of rotation and this to the bicycle through the hollow tubular transverse axis integrated with the integrated or attachable clamp, depending on the case, it is rotated, if not found. already in the appropriate position, the transverse bar with the possibility of rotation, proceeding before its release with respect to the hollow tubular transverse axis if it is in the locked position, so that the side bars are raised relative to the average horizontal plane of the bicycle and with this is the position in which the removable crossbar will be once fixed or attached; once the side bars are raised to the elevated load position, the crossbar assembly is blocked with the possibility of turning - hollow tubular transverse axis; the removable crossbar is coupled, by one of its extreme or distal areas, to the free end of one of the side bars; the bags or the like are introduced in the removable crossbar, more specifically placing the handles of said bags or the like in the grooves or notches or guides; and finally the removable crossbar is attached or fixed, by the end or distal area still free, to the free end of the second sidebar.

PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The constitution and characteristics of the invention will be better understood with the aid of the following description of an embodiment example, it being understood that the invention is not limited to said embodiment, but that the protection encompasses all those alternative embodiments that may be included within the content and of the scope of the claims. The terminology used below is intended to describe the examples of embodiments that follow and should not be construed as limiting or restrictive.
First, it should be noted that the main condition that the device constituting a first Object of the invention should ideally fulfill, and that it fulfills the example of realization thereof that follows, is compatibility. That is, the device must be able to be used in the largest possible number of bicycles, for the greatest number of elements aimed at the transport of cargo or to provide stability to the transported cargo. In accordance with the above, in the context of the present invention the following are especially defined as standard bicycles: Road bicycles and variants (except Triathlon), mountain bikes or standard mountain bikes, and yfo city bikes. Moreover, in a second level of compatibility, the invention is compatible with all bicycle sizes and dimensions that are of this type.
On the other hand, and in relation to the elements aimed at the transport of cargo (for example, bags) compatible with the device, most of the existing ones are compatible, both in type and shape and in dimensions. The only condition that in principle would not ensure compatibility is that the bag length is greater than 550 mm, and this is due to the possibility of contact between the bottom of the bag and the top of the rear wheel.
GEOMETRY AND DIMENSIONS OF THE DEVICE
First, the length of the sidebars must be within limits marked by the size of the bicycle, since, for the safety mode, the position of the removable bar must coincide with the rear triangle (e) of the frame for be able to introduce it through it and the rear wheel. Having studied the set of all the dimensional parameters of the bicycle, the maximum and minimum measurements for the two main types of bicycle have been taken as a reference: Road and mountain.
As can be seen in figure 1, the limits are marked by the road frame in its maximum dimensions and the mountain frame in its minimum dimensions. The length of the side bars of the device should be in that range (350 mm to 586 mm). But for the device to be compatible with the entire range of possibilities, the measure that really sets the limit is the minimum, 350 mm (if it is compatible with this measure, it will be compatible with higher measures). Thus. This is the length chosen according to these conditions.
The second premise is also related to the length of the side bars. This should be such that for the transport position there is the appropriate distance between the area where the bags are hung and the rear wheel, so that contact is avoided. Therefore, the dimensions and geometry of the bicycle as well as the existing dimensions and types of bags must be taken into account.
Again, an analysis of all dimensional parameters is carried out. In this case they are specifically interested in bicycles of minimum size and bags of maximum length, all this related to the possible dimensions of the device.
The distance between the highest point of the rear wheel and the position of the removable bar of the device in transport mode shall be called (h), and must be greater than the maximum length of the analyzed bags. A trigonometric calculation is performed to determine the length of the sidebars based on all the dimensional variables (Figure 2).
Once the calculation is completed, it has been verified that the length (d) of the side bars of the device must be greater than 517 mm in order to load the bags of maximum length without any possibility of contact with the rear wheel of the bicycle. This condition conflicts with that studied previously, since it required a sidebar length of 350 mm. Therefore, an alternative solution that combines the two conditions has been sought.
The solution (figure 3) consists in adding a second termination at 350 mm from the shaft (ie hollow tubular transverse axis) where the removable crossbar can be anchored and establish a distance of 520 mm sidebars. In this way, the removable crossbar can be anchored at two different distances as required by the size of the bicycle and, in addition, an appropriate distance is maintained for loading the bags.
The next step is to establish the length of the crossbars that are the removable crossbar and the bar where the axis is located (ie. Crossbar with the possibility of rotation). Here the main condition is that there must be space for the fixed element to which the bicycle is chained between the four bars. Secondary condition is that the device must be of sufficient width to accommodate a number of bags hung on the removable crossbar.
Approximately, the maximum width of the rear area of the analyzed bicycles is 200 mm. From this distance the convenient distance must be added.
The length of the crossbars has been increased by 150 mm on each side because an appropriate distance has been considered to introduce a fixed element through the device and chain the bicycle in it. This gives a total length of 500 mm (figure 4), which is wide enough to incorporate a considerable number of bags (depending on type, format and dimensions) hung on the removable crossbar.
By incorporating an axis in its crossbar (ie. Crossbar with the possibility of rotation), the option of sliding the device through this axis is possible in order to expand the space available for the fastener. So, if desired, the space can be provided to secure the bicycle in a support element of up to 300 mm in maximum diameter.
Finally, we proceed to the stipulation of the diameter of the three bars that form the U (side bars and crossbar with the possibility of rotation) and the removable crossbar. The thickness of these must ensure their resistance to any type of attack but, in turn, must be thin enough to introduce the removable crossbar between the spokes of the rear wheel. In addition, the resulting weight of the device has to be adequate to move it without excessive difficulty.
The removable crossbar of the device cannot exceed 30 mm in diameter, since the distance between spokes would prevent it from entering between them to place the device in anti-theft mode. The thickness of the main bars must be less than that of the removable crossbar in order to anchor the terminations on it.
Dimensional margins have been estimated for both thicknesses, which are between 12 and 18 mm for the main bars (side bars and crossbar with the possibility of rotation), and between 20 and 30 mm for the removable crossbar.
GENERAL VIEW
A general view of an embodiment of the device that constitutes a first object of the invention is shown in Figure 5.
SUBJECTION AREA The device has been designed so that it is subject to some element of the bicycle that has easy and fast handling for the user. The seat post has been chosen specifically for its standard in shape and also due to its position, since it plays a fundamental role if the device is intended to be placed on the rear of the bicycle.
The design of this element consists of a clamp (4) (comprising a hollow tubular transverse axis, figure 6) through which the seat post is inserted. Once inside, the saddle is placed on the bicycle normally. In order for the device to be firmly attached to the post, a double screw clamp (4), Allen type (5, 6), is provided. This ensures resistance and driving stability.
In the subject referring to the dimensions of the seat post discussed above, it may be necessary to incorporate a secondary part (adapter (7)) whose mission is to increase the diameter of the seat post if necessary, in this way, the clamp (4 ) of the device, maintain dimensions adapted to the maximum standards of seatpost diameter. Therefore, if you have a smaller seat diameter, you can use this adapter
(7) between the clamp (4) of the device and the post.
The maximum diameter of existing post in the market is 35.9 mm, so that the clamp (4) of the device will have an inner diameter of 36.2 mm and will be valid for 35.9 -34.9 33, 9 -31.8 -31.6 -30.9.
By using the adapter (7), the clamp (4) will be valid for seatposts of 28.6 -27.4 -27.227.0 -26.8 -25.4 -25.0. In this way, all possible seat diameters will be covered.
SHAFT AND SHAFT LOCK
In order for the device to have a dual function, it is necessary to change its position quickly. Therefore, an axis (ie, transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation) has been arranged that rotates in a vertical direction to place the device in anti-theft mode or transport mode as appropriate.
Where more inconveniences have been found is in the mode of transport, because that position must be maintained in a fixed and permanent way while driving. So it is necessary to incorporate a system for blocking said transverse bar (2) with the possibility of rotation. The solution consists of two holes on both sides of the shaft through which a U-shaped element (8) is introduced that prevents rotation and keeps it in a certain position (figure 7).
The shaft has been designed with four holes; two to place the device in position to hang the bags directly on the removable crossbar (3), and two others to place the device so that it can be used with the adaptable bag. Some will be used (figure 8, lock in transport position of commercial bags) or others (figure 9, lock in transport position of adaptable bag) depending on the way in which we have the device installed.
To facilitate the correct use of the lock, four indicators in the form of stickers have been added, two in each position (18, figure 9). Two of them show the position in which the device is installed, using a simple symbol. The other two consist of an arrow that indicates the pair of holes in which the lock is to be introduced. In addition, in the crossbar (2) with the possibility of rotation, a fifth indicator has been added to ensure that it is at the correct distance to introduce the shaft lock.
REMOVABLE CROSS BAR
It is the bar (3) that contains the device's safety mechanism. The dimensions of this bar (3) are slightly larger than the others that make up the device, in terms of length and diameter. Its length is 550 mm and its diameter 25 mm. At one end of the bar (3) is the lock of the padlock (figure 10).
The anchoring system (figure 11) allows the area (10) that does not have a lock to be automatically locked when inserted into the cavity (11) and slide it slightly in the direction of the removable cross bar (3).
This system also serves to place the commercial bags in a more comfortable way:
one. Insert the first terminal (10, 10 ') into the cavity (11).
2. Turning the bar (3) without sliding is automatically locked to place the bags.
3. Return the bar (3) to its original position.
Four. Slide and anchor the second terminal (12, 12 ', 13) (lock).
HANDLE In the central part of the removable crossbar (3) an external element (8) has been added to its surface (ie a handle) to facilitate the manipulation of the device at the time of the change of position (figure 10 ). In addition to providing an aesthetic character, the plastic provides a more pleasant touch than the steel of the bar.
This handle (8) has the particularity of containing at its ends guides (15) to hang the plastic bags on them (figure 12). In addition to the bumpers on each side, they have a ribbed surface to prevent lateral sliding of the bags while riding the bicycle. This surface has a width wide enough to accommodate any type of commercial bag.
Optionally, trims (16) can be included: These are two cylindrical pieces fitted at the ends of the removable bar. Its function is to give a more aesthetic finish to the set and in turn protect the lock from a possible blow. You could be painted one color to differentiate one device from others.
STABILITY TAPE
One of the most notable problems that are involved in the design of the device is the possible balancing of the bags hung on the removable crossbar (3) during driving. The lateral balancing is ensured by the guides of the removable transverse bar (3) and the lateral bars (1) themselves. On the other hand, there is no element in the device that can avoid it for front balancing. Therefore, a solution for this problem becomes indispensable.
Said solution consists in the incorporation of an element directed to provide stability to the transported load (ie a belt) placed in one of the lateral bars (1) (figure 13). This surrounds the hanging bags and the side bar (1) on the other end of the device to return to its place of origin and adjust it using a velcro system. With this it is possible to avoid frontal balancing in accelerations and braking while riding the bicycle.
When the bicycle is parked and the device is in a safe position, the belt is folded and on one side of the device, taking up minimal space. In addition, when the use of it is not required, it can be removed, since it is attached to one of the bars (1) by means of two snaps (figure 14).
ADAPTABLE BAG One of the options available to the device is to use an element aimed at transporting cargo, that is, a specific bag adaptable to it. This avoids using the bags coming from the trade to which it goes, thus implying an economic and environmental benefit.
For this, the device is placed inverted on the bicycle, that is, with its side bars (1) placed horizontally instead of vertically. The bag has two hooks on its sides, which are hung on the horizontal part of the side bars (1). To avoid the movement of the bag, a pair of stops (17) have been added to each side bar to block the sliding of the hooks through them.
Its general dimensions are depending on the device, since it must occupy the space between the bars (1). Therefore, its length is a function of the distance between lateral bars (1), 500 mm, at which subtracting the radii of bar (1) and a small safety distance, it will remain 480 mm. Its width does not depend largely on the bars of the device, it has been given 300 mm. In the determination of the height there is also freedom as long as they do not exceed 550 mm based on which the device has been designed not to contact the rear wheel. A height of 360 mm has been stipulated. As a result, the overall dimensions of the bag will be 480 x 300 x 360 mm (length, width, height).
The bag (figure 15) has been designed to be foldable (figure 16) when it is not used and can be stored occupying a minimum space. This feature is possible thanks to the folds in the middle of the bag. A pocket has also been added on one of the sides to store small objects, such as padlock keys or the U-shaped element (8) that locks the shaft.
